Charles (Karl) Oberthür, who wrote music for orchestra, chamber and vocal music, was born in Monaco on the 4th March 1819, the same year of the composers Abt, Biaggi, Campana, De Giosa, Deffés, Glover, Gouvy, Henrion, Hopp, Liebe, Mazzolani, Miladowski, Moniuszko, Offenbach, Puig, Suppé. He died in Londra on the 8th November 1895
