The musician Mabel Wheeler Daniels, who wrote music for orchestra, chamber and vocal music, was born in Swampscott on the 27th November 1878, the same year of the composers Boughton, Cortolezis, Dobronic, Dupont, Ehrenberg, Farjeon, Gaito, Holbrooke, Holland, Kollo, Lieurance, Mildenberg, Mraczek, Nelson, Oddone Sulli-Rao, Palmgren, Pedrell, Pedrollo, Philip, Reichwein, Reinitz, Schreker, Siklós, Tommasini. He died in Boston on the 10th March 1971
