John Rogers Thomas

(1829-1896)

The composer John Rogers Thomas, who wrote music for orchestra, chamber and vocal music, was born in Newport on the 26th March 1829, the same year of the composers Acton, Bertini, Braga, Dietrich, Gottschalk, Hartog, Ipavec, Ivry, Karrer, Lazare, Millard, Pinsuti, Roberti, Rogel, Rubinstein, Stiehl, Thooft. He died in New York on the 5th April 1896
