Life
His entire career, from training to full maturity, took place entirely within the Romantic period, of which he is a famous exponent in the field of singing pedagogy.
Born in Turin in 1801, Giuseppe Concone dedicated his life to teaching singing and composing vocal exercises that would train generations of singers. He studied music in his city and soon established himself as a singing teacher, distinguished by the clarity of his pedagogical methods. He also lived in Paris, where he came into contact with important singing schools.
Returning to Turin, he continued his activity as a teacher and author. His fame is primarily due to the vocalises and exercise collections that still represent a reference point for those studying lyric singing. He died in his native city in 1861.

Briciole di storia
Repression and the exile of the patriots
Following the defeat of the uprisings, a very harsh repression broke out in all Italian states in 1823, as sovereigns, supported by Austria, established a climate of police terror. Special tribunals sentenced hundreds of patriots who had participated in the insurrections to death, to hard labor—as in the Spielberg in Moravia—or to exile. Exile itself became a crucial phenomenon: intellectuals, soldiers, and conspirators fled by the thousands, especially to Paris, London, or Switzerland. There, they came into contact with the most advanced ideas of European liberalism, creating an international network of opposition and laying the foundations for the future, better-organized struggles for independence.
