Life
His training was situated at a fertile intersection of styles, in which Rococo and Enlightenment coexisted, while his artistic maturity was expressed in the new taste of Neoclassicism.
Giovanni Battista Cervellini was born in Ceneda in 1735, and his figure is linked to the musical life of his hometown. He held the important role of organist of the Ceneda Cathedral starting from 1752. He was a profound connoisseur of organ building, so much so that he was chosen to inaugurate the new instrument built by Gaetano Callido for the cathedral in 1780. Although biographical sources on him are scarce, his activity was of great importance for local musical history. Despite sharing the name and profession, there is no evidence of a family link with the eponymous Cenedese organist Giuseppe Cervellini. His career ended with his death in 1801.
