Life

His training took place in the heart of the Fin de siècle, an era of extraordinary complexity where Verismo, Decadentism, and Symbolism coexisted, while his long mature career unfolded in a twentieth century marked by the revolution of Futurism and subsequent currents.

Carlo Adolfo Cantù was born in 1875 and developed a musical career spanning the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Active primarily in Turin, he was a composer of symphonic, chamber, and vocal music, distinguished by a personal language rooted in tradition but open to the new trends of the century.

Although not among the most famous figures on the international scene, he fits into the context of the Italian school of the early twentieth century, providing a significant contribution to Turin's musical life. He died in 1942, leaving behind works that deserve rediscovery.
