Born in Trento in 1672, Francesco Antonio Bonporti embarked on an ecclesiastical career but never abandoned his passion for music. He studied theology and was ordained a priest, while simultaneously cultivating the study of composition and the violin.

Among Bonporti's main works are the Invenzioni, published in Venice, which stand out for their melodic freshness and contrapuntal skill. These compositions, erroneously attributed to Bach in the past, contributed to his fame.
He also composed several Concertos and Sonatas for violin and basso continuo, which circulated in Italy and abroad. The attention to detail and the clarity of the writing make his works an example of instrumental elegance.
His sacred production is also important; while less performed today, it is significant for understanding his path as both a priest and a musician.
