Trained in the final phase of Romanticism, his long career led him to reach full maturity in the early twentieth century, an era of avant-gardes where the aestheticism of Decadentism, the suggestions of Symbolism, and the radical rupture of Futurism coexisted.
Felice Boghen was born in Trieste on May 15, 1848, and from childhood revealed a particular predisposition for music. He studied piano with passion, later perfecting his skills in Paris as well, where he came into contact with the international environment gravitating around the main conservatories and musical salons of the French capital.
Upon returning to Italy, he embarked on a significant concert career, which led him to perform in various European cities. His interpretations were appreciated for their technical refinement and for the ability to combine virtuosic brilliance with an intense expressive sensitivity. Simultaneously, he dedicated himself to compositional activity, focusing in particular on piano and chamber music.
Having settled in Rome, he was also active as a teacher and trainer of young pianists, transmitting the skills acquired in years of study and practice. His career, spanning several decades, made him a prominent figure in the Italian musical landscape of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. He died in Rome on October 30, 1929, leaving a legacy as a refined interpreter and respected educator.

Felice Boghen composed numerous piano and chamber works, which reflected his cosmopolitan training and taste for melodic refinement. His pieces for piano were designed for both the concert hall and domestic practice, with brilliant writing and immediate emotional impact.
He also wrote chamber music pages, in which he explored the dialogue between instruments and piano, prioritizing the balance and harmony of the whole. Some less-known symphonic compositions were performed on the occasion of special concerts and helped consolidate his reputation as a versatile author.
His repertoire, while not very extensive, had the merit of placing him among the protagonists of Italian musical life of his time, maintaining a particular interest today for scholars and those dedicated to the rediscovery of musicians active at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
