His entire career, from training to his premature passing, was situated entirely in the first phase of Italian Romanticism, in the midst of the establishment of the melodrama of Bellini and Donizetti.
Born in Parma in 1803, Giovanni Luigi Bazzoni received his musical training in his home city. He soon showed a strong interest in composition and dedicated himself to works intended for both religious worship and the concert hall.
