His training took place in a crucial era of transition, in which the final glimmers of Neoclassicism and the nascent sensitivity of Romanticism coexisted—a style in which his long artistic maturity would later be fully expressed until the era of Realism.
Basilio Basili was born in Macerata in 1804 and trained as a tenor, soon establishing himself for the quality of his voice and interpretive skill. Alongside singing, he developed his compositional activity, writing operas and vocal pieces.
