Among his most famous works is La pazzia senile (1607), considered a masterpiece of the comic madrigal. He also wrote La saviezza giovenile and other collections that brought decisive innovations to the vocal landscape.
He also composed sacred music, including masses and motets, and organ collections that testified to his instrumental mastery. He was also the author of treatises, such as Moderna Practica Musicale, which were widely distributed among his contemporaries.

To defend its eastern borders from the Habsburg threat and Ottoman incursions, the Republic of Venice decided to build a fortress-city of revolutionary conception, designed as a perfect war machine: a nine-pointed star where every bastion and every curtain was calculated based on the range of cannons of the time. But the true touch of genius was the choice of the day for laying the first stone: October 7, 1593. It was not a random date. It was the twenty-second anniversary of the Battle of Lepanto, the Serenissima's greatest naval victory against the Ottoman Empire. With this gesture, Venice was not just building a fortress but sending a powerful message. Palmanova was born as a monument to victory and a symbol of the firm will to defend its domains on land, just as it had already done on the sea.
