The composer Yury (Alexandrovich) Shaporin, who wrote music for orchestra, chamber and vocal music, was born in Glukhov on the 8th November 1887, the same year of the composers Atterberg, Boulanger, Bretan, Brewster-Jones, Collingwood, de Leone, Delgadillo, Dieren, Harling, Jachino, Johnson, Lindberg, Paumgartner, Pepöck, Reiser, Romberg, Schadewitz, Stephan, Tagliapietra, Toch, Usandizaga. Died in Mosca on the 9th December 1966
