The composer Bernhard E. Scholz, who wrote music for orchestra, chamber and vocal music, was born in Mainz on the 30th March 1835, the same year of the composers Caballero, Cohen, Cui, Danhauser, Draeseke, Fernández Caballero, García Robles, Grossman, Jenko, Krygell, Pfeiffer, Radoux, Saint-Saëns, Torrance. He died in Monaco on the 26th December 1916
