The composer Ciprian Porumbescu was born in Sipote on the 14th October 1853, the same year of the composers Arkas, Bridge, Henneberg, Keurvels, Knorr, Koessler, Lagoanère, Luard-Selby, Malherbe, Messager, Rendano, Roger, Rousseau.
