The musician Jan Mul, who wrote music for orchestra, chamber and vocal music, was born in Haarlem on the 20th September 1911, the same year of the composers Alain, Bartolozzi, Bergman, Burkhard, Cikker, Gershfeld, Grunenwald, Hercigonja, Herrmann, Hovhaness, Kiesewetter, Koetsier, Menotti, Napoli, Ocenas, Reizenstein, Rota, Schultze, Shimizu, Smith, Tate. He died in Overveen (Haarlem) on the 30th December 1971
