James Hewitt, who wrote music for orchestra, chamber and vocal music, was born in Dartmoor on the 4th June 1770, the same year of the composers Adrien, Beethoven, Dupuy, Ebers, Glachant, Orgitano, Paganini, Reicha, Schikaneder, Schneider, Schubert, Titov. He died in Boston on the first August 1827
