The composer Ernst Christian Hesse, who wrote music for orchestra, chamber and vocal music, was born in Grossgottern on the 14th April 1676, the same year of the composers Bigaglia, Clérambault, Pollarolo, Reinhardt. He died in Darmstadt on the 16th May 1762
