Alexander (Sergeyevich) Famintsïn, who wrote music for orchestra, chamber and vocal music, was born in Kaluga on the 5th November 1841, the same year of the composers Andrée, Bachrich, Bevignani, Blaramberg, Bolzoni, Caudella, Chabrier, Dvorák, Héritte, Kowalski, Lange, Marenco, Mattei, Nessler, Parry, Pedrell, Ritter, Tarnowski, Usiglio, Vakhnyanyn. Died in Ligovo (San Pietroburgo) on the 6th July 1896
