John Woods Duke was born in Cumberland on the 30th July 1899, the same year of the composers Angelo, Auric, Bárdos, Chávez (y Ramírez), Cortese, Coward, Davidenko, Gedda, Haas, Korchmaryov, Krása, Lamote de Grignon y Ribas, Manziarly, Müller von Kulm, Poulenc, Rohloff, Tcherepnin. Died in Northampton (Massachusetts) on the 26th October 1984
