The composer Radie Britain, who wrote music for orchestra, chamber and vocal music, was born in Silverton on the 17th March 1903, the same year of the composers Arrieu, Azmayparashvili, Berkeley, Blacher, Blanter, Bogdanov-Berezovsky, Douglas, Duke, Giannini, Goldschmidt, Kadosa, Karyotakis, Lavry, Lopatnikov, Meytus, Milford, Milyutin, Nabokov. He died in Palm Desert (Calif.) on the 23th May 1994
