Sergei (Eduardovich) Bortkiewicz (Bortkievich), author of instrumental and vocal music, was born in Kharkov on the 28th February 1877, the same year of the composers Aroca y Ortega, Aubert, Beach, Brediceanu, Camussi, Castillo, Chesnokov, Cools, Cuvillier, Dohnányi, Dunhill, Dupuis, Farwell, Gedike, Hess, Huré, Jelmoli, Krstic, Ladmirault, Marsick, Medins, Mojsisovics(-Mojsvár), Nowowiejski, Radoux-Rogier, Smith, Stojanovic. He died in Vienna on the 25th October 1952
