The musician David (Frederick) Barlow, who wrote music for orchestra, chamber and vocal music, was born in Rothwell on the 20th May 1927, the same year of the composers Ahlstrom, Angerer, Argento, Aschaffenburg, Beckwith, Bentoiu, Berg, Bondon, Bucht, Bécaud, Dankworth, Di Domenica, Dimov, Eklund, Grandis, Henry, Josephs, Joubert, Killmayr, Kupka, Kvam, Köhler, Martirano, Maxfield, Moss, Natanson, Niculescu, Pironkoff, Podesva. He died in Newcastle upon Tyne on the 9th June 1975
