The composer Anton (Johann Adam) Bachschmidt (Bachschmid), who wrote music for orchestra, chamber and vocal music, was born in Melk on the 11th February 1728, the same year of the composers Aspelmayr, Aumann, Chrétien, Gaviniès, Guglielmi, Hiller, Insanguine, Oginski, Piccinni, Raupach. He died in Eichstätt on the 29th December 1797
