The musician Efrem (Alexandrovich) Zimbalist, author of instrumental and vocal music, was born in Rostov-na-Donu on the 9th April 1890, the same year of the composers Ambros, Barbier, Bourguignon, Canal, Clokey, Cortinas, Grad, Guerrini, Gurlitt, Gál, Ibert, Kovalev, Manning, Martin, Martinu, Medins, Moore, Nottara, Nystroem, Petersen, Reuter, Roig, Schoemaker.
