The musician Václav Hugo (Wenceslas, Venceslao, Wenceslaw) Zavrtal, who wrote music for orchestra, chamber and vocal music, was born in Polepy on the 31th August 1821, the same year of the composers Afanas'yev, Bottesini, Bovy-Lysberg, Byström, Conradi, Dominiceti, Doppler, Maretzek, Muzio, Paniagua y Vasques. Died in Litomerice on the 8th September 1899
