The composer George E(lbridge) Whiting, author of instrumental and vocal music, was born in Holliston on the 14th September 1840, the same year of the composers Audran, Bourgault-Ducoudray, Brassin, Bronsart (von Schellendorf), Chaikovsky, Deslandres, Faccio, Gerbic, Goetz, Horneman, Jacobi, Kalhauge, Kleffel, Kühner, Lenepveu, Ricordi. Died in Cambridge (Massachusetts) on the 14th October 1923
