Viktor Alexandrovich Uspensky, who wrote music for orchestra, chamber and vocal music, was born in Kaluga on the 31th August 1879, the same year of the composers Andreae, Berg, Bornschein, Bridge, Canteloube (de Malaret), Corder, Cras, Doire, Donaudy, Gaubert, Gilbert, Granichstaedten, Grovlez, Haas, Hatze, Kalnins, Laccetti, Lyudkevych, Ostrcil, Respighi, Scott, Shaw, Tigranian, Trunk. He died in Tashkent on the 9th October 1949
