The musician Cyril (Meir) Scott, author of instrumental and vocal music, was born in Oxton on the 27th September 1879, the same year of the composers Andreae, Berg, Bornschein, Bridge, Canteloube (de Malaret), Corder, Cras, Doire, Donaudy, Gaubert, Gilbert, Granichstaedten, Grovlez, Haas, Hatze, Kalnins, Laccetti, Lyudkevych, Ostrcil, Respighi, Shaw, Tigranian, Trunk, Uspensky. He died in Eastbourne on the 31th December 1970
