The musician Gustav Schmidt, who wrote music for orchestra, chamber and vocal music, was born in Weimar on the first September 1816, the same year of the composers Bazin, Bennett, Binder, Engel, Graffigna, Loder, Markull, Saloman. He died in Darmstadt on the 11th February 1882
