Allan Macbeth, author of instrumental and vocal music, was born in Greenock on the 13rd March 1856, the same year of the composers Aspestrand, Bird, Dupuis, Gabriel, Gall, Geisler, Gédalge, Kastalski, Mottl, Schütt, Sinding, Taneyev. He died in Glasgow on the 25th August 1910
