The composer Alfred (Francis) Hill, author of instrumental and vocal music, was born in Melbourne on the 16th November 1870, the same year of the composers Breil, Büttner, Casadesus, Coerne, Dopper, Estella, Garcia Mansilla, Hermann, Hosmer, Koreshchenko, Lehár, Lekeu, Leps, Lleó, Malherbe, Mlynarski, Moreau, Novák, Opienski, Pittrich, Pons, Pryor, Ryelandt, Schenck, Schuster, Straus, Tournemire, Truman. He died in Sydney on the 30th October 1960
