Rafael (José Maria) Hernando y Palomar, author of instrumental and vocal music, was born in Madrid on the 31th May 1822, the same year of the composers Arditi, Barbieri, Clément, Gautier, Gaztambide y Garbayo, Gregoir, Hauser, Hignard, Leslie, Litta, Lutz, Massé, Raff, Reinthaler. He died in Madrid on the 10th July 1888
