The composer Semyon Stepanovich Gulak-Artemovsky was a author of vocal and instrumental music; was born in Gorodishche on the 16th February 1813, the same year of the composers Dargomïzhsky, Loder, Macfarren, Mangold, Mazzucato, Pentenrieder, Petrella, Puccini, Rosenhain, Smart, Soubre. He died in Mosca on the 17th April 1873
