The composer Antun Dobronic, who wrote music for orchestra, chamber and vocal music, was born in Jelsa on the second April 1878, the same year of the composers Boughton, Cortolezis, Daniels, Dupont, Ehrenberg, Farjeon, Gaito, Holbrooke, Holland, Kollo, Lieurance, Mildenberg, Mraczek, Nelson, Oddone Sulli-Rao, Palmgren, Pedrell, Pedrollo, Philip, Reichwein, Reinitz, Schreker, Siklós, Tommasini. He died in Zagreb on the 12nd December 1955
