The composer René Defossez, who wrote music for orchestra, chamber and vocal music, was born in Spa on the 4th October 1905, the same year of the composers Adomián, Arapov, Bartos, Blazek, Blitzstein, Bozza, Brusilovsky, Dankevich, Darnton, Farkas, Garrido, Gundry, Halffter (Escriche), Hartmann, Holewa, Hughes, Jolivet, Kenessey, Kosma, Kozlovsky, Kreuder, Landré, Leigh, Maes, Meyer, Michaelides, Müller, Pizzini, Rubin, Ruthenfranz, Sandi, Seiber, Sternefeld, Tippett, Tubin. He died in Bruxelles on the 20th May 1988
