Emils Darzins, who wrote music for orchestra, chamber and vocal music, was born in Jaunpiebalga on the third November 1875, the same year of the composers Agostini, Alfano, Coleridge-Taylor, Courvoisier, Eisler, Fano, Février, Glier, Horák, Huszka, Ketèlbey, Kreisler, Labey, Mariotte, Melartin, Montemezzi, Nouguès, Ollone, Pacchierotti, Panizza, Ravel, Riccitelli, Rootham, Rubens, Rôze, Scheinpflug, Shaw, Szulc, Tovey, Valverde Sanjuán. He died in Riga on the 31th August 1910
