Peter Léopold (Léonard) Benoît, who wrote music for orchestra, chamber and vocal music, was born in Harlebeke on the 17th August 1834, the same year of the composers Angeloni, Becker, Berger, Bial, Blodek, Colyns, Hernández Sales, Legouix, Lôbo, Mertens, Ponchielli, Pougin, Robinson. Died in Antwerpen on the 8th March 1901
