The musician Damião Barbosa de Araújo was a author of vocal and instrumental music; was born in Itaparica on the 27th September 1778, the same year of the composers Caffi, Cranach, Gianella, Hummel, Kanne, Kemp, Neukomm, Pacini, Pucitta, Romani, Rungenhagen, Sor, Tessino. He died in Salvador on the 20th April 1856
