Mukhtar Ashrafi was born in Bukhara on the 11th June 1912, the same year of the composers Amellér, Carvalho, Gillis, Glanville-Hicks, Hadjiev, Hess, Hughes, Jones, Jurovský, Jørgensen, Khadzhiev, Kowalski, Leon, Marttinen, Moncayo Garcia, Montsalvatge, Nejedlý, Nijazi (Niyazi; Tagi-zade-Hajibeyov; Tagi-zade-Khadzhibekov, Pentland, Pongrácz, Scott, Székely. He died in Tashkent on the 15th December 1975
